Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400 F.
- Remove butter from refrigerator and let it soften.
- Cut potatoes into 1/8" thick slices, then cut along the cross section of these slices so that potatoes are bite sized.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together cream, milk, flour,
- In a separate bowl, whisk together cream, milk, flour, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Grease the bottom of a baking dish with butter.
- Line the bottom of the baking dish with a layer of potatoes, then lightly drizzle with the cream mixture. Repeat this process until all of the potatoes are in the dish, and cover with any remaining cream.
Bake
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes.
- Cover with cheese and bake for 3-5 minutes more, or until the cheese is melted.
